Modern.tech Launches Subsidiary, SourceRE DB, to Build MLS Databases

By Meagan Zeman | March 27, 2024

Denver - Modern.tech has announced the official launch of subsidiary company SourceRE DB, an MLS Database and API System. Bill Fowler, previously EVP of Real Estate Strategy at Modern.tech, has been appointed as President of SourceRE DB.

SourceRE launches with multiple RESO certifications including Web API Add/Edit, Web API Core 2.0.0, Data Dictionary 1.7, and pending Data Dictionary 2.0 certification, delivering the most powerful distribution API on the market. With best-in-class security, encryption protocols, and data redundancy and resiliency infrastructure, SourceRE effectively addresses the longstanding challenges with MLS data independence.

“For an MLS to be an autonomous and proactive data services company, it must have an independent database at its core,” said Fowler. “We believe the MLS should continue to serve as the cornerstone of the real estate industry.”

Following multiple MLS strategic planning engagements, Fowler and Modern.tech identified SourceRE as a powerful solution to secure and enhance the MLS value proposition.

"Given our expertise in both software development and data services, it made sense to solve this problem through technology,” said Andrew Coca, CEO of Modern.tech. “SourceRE empowers MLSs by fundamentally shifting who controls the MLS database. For the first time, it’s the MLS.”
